Don’t you just love it when men who believe in small government, but can’t get pregnant, want the government to force women to give birth? Mike Pence has been in office for 20 years and never brought this amendment to prevent federal money to Planned Parenthood. Now, under a Democratic president and his desire to run for governor of Indiana he brings up the abortion issue. He and other conservatives claim they don’t want any tax payer money funding abortions and Planned Parenthood is the biggest provider of abortions in America. What they don’t tell you is the Hyde Amendment already prevents tax payer money from funding abortions. Planned Parenthood does a lot more than just provide abortions to low income women that can’t afford to have a private doctor or hospital do it. They screen for STD and cancer. I guess he believes America will be better off if people aren’t tested for STD’s or cancer.
Why can’t I have my tax payer dollars go towards only the things I want, like PBS and Planned Parenthood and not to things I disagree? By the way, Mr. Pence, are you unpatriotic for not wearing an American Flag pin or because you want to defund an organization that helps the poor?

Pence scares me. The right wing of the Republican Party (most of the party) seems to be dead set on reversing the sexual revolution that began in the 1960’s with the wide usage of oral contraceptives. They’re not just anti-abortion. They are anti-sex…unless it happens to involve one of them and an intern, hooker, constituent, or the guy in the next stall…and then it’s ok. To these guys, Planned Parenthood isn’t just an abortion provider, it’s the Anti-Christ. If Mike Pence and his crowd get their way, and right now they’re very much in control, they’ll return the US not just to the idealized 1950’s that never actually existed, but to the Middle Ages.
