While watching Meet the Press this morning, I heard Jim Demint and Ralph Reed talk about how allowing gays to marry hurts kids. First, what about the gays that don’t have kids. Whose kids are they hurting? Second, this sounds like the same argument some people made about why laws should prohibit Blacks and Whites from marrying because it hurts the kids.
I know what hurts kids and that is abusive parents, deadbeat parents, lack of financial resources, no place to live, non-loving parents and on and on. Having gay parents or interracial parents is somewhere way down on the list of what hurts kids. I think the main damage done to kids is what other people do or say to them because of who their parents are.
